Team Roster · Untamed Tribe LLC

The people who actually run the expeditions.

Four operators today. WFR+ on every lead. Military, engineering, water ops, and field instruction backgrounds — not motivational speakers, not adventure-tourism guides. The people you'll meet at the trailhead are the people listed on this page.

01 // How We Staff

Small teams. Vetted operators. No subcontracted guides you've never met.

Every Untamed Tribe cohort runs 4–6 participants with at least one named lead from this page. That ratio isn't a marketing number — it's the operational ceiling that lets evening debriefs actually function as mentorship and lets a lead guide know every participant's load, sleep, and decision-making patterns by day three.

We use vetted local operators in Peru, Belize, and other international zones for ground logistics and permit navigation. We do not outsource expedition leadership. The mentorship relationship is the product — and that doesn't transfer.

Year 1: four core operators. Year 2: two to three contracted lead guides under documented standards. Every name on this roster has skin in the field, not just a logo on the website.

02 // Core Team

Four operators. Defined roles. Accountable for outcomes.

LEAD-01 · Founder
Derek Morris
Founder & Expedition Director
BACKGROUND // U.S. Military
BACKGROUND // Engineering
DOMAINS // Mountain · Water · Wilderness
BASE // Florida

Derek founded Untamed Tribe to close the gap he watched form over a decade in military service, engineering, and expedition environments — between people who looked successful and people who were actually capable when pressure landed.

He sets the operational philosophy, expedition standards, and progression curriculum across the ETP → EPC → Expedition → Advanced → Guide pathway. His expedition resume spans mountain travel, technical diving, paddlesports, and remote navigation across domestic and international environments. The capability-over-comfort doctrine that runs through every Untamed Tribe program is his.

On expedition, Derek leads from inside the cohort — not above it. Evening debriefs, decision-making coaching, and post-trip AARs are run by him personally on every flagship trip.

LEAD-02 · Water Ops
Sam
Growth & Client Experience · Water-Based Operations
DOMAINS // Diving · Paddling · Sailing
FOCUS // Florida Springs · Belize Reef
ROLE // Discovery calls · Cohort flow
OWNS // ETP weekends, water curriculum

Sam runs the water side of Untamed Tribe — Florida springs cave-adjacent training, paddlesports progression, and the Belize jungle-and-reef expedition operations — and owns the participant experience from application through post-expedition AAR.

If you submit an application and book a discovery call, there's a strong chance you're talking to Sam. The conversation is structured as a fit assessment, not a sales pitch — listen 70%, talk 30%, no pressure to commit on the call. That's deliberate.

Sam also shapes cohort culture: the 8-weeks-out Discord introduction, the pre-expedition Zoom, the gear-check rhythm, and the alumni handoff into the Tribe membership. The mentorship doesn't end when the truck leaves the trailhead, and Sam is the reason that promise actually holds.

LEAD-03 · Safety
Adam
Operations & Safety
DOMAINS // Risk · SOPs · EAPs
FOCUS // Go/no-go authority
ROLE // Pre-expedition sign-off
OWNS // Incident reporting, AAR loop

Adam holds operational governance and safety authority across every expedition Untamed Tribe runs. He owns the documented SOPs, the Emergency Action Plans, the medical screening review, and — most importantly — the authority to delay, reroute, or scrub an expedition when conditions or readiness don't meet the standard.

That authority is structural, not theoretical. No expedition departs without Adam's pre-trip sign-off on guide credentials, medical kits scaled to the risk profile, satellite comms verification, evacuation contingencies, and weather window. The Garmin inReach on every team and the sat phone with the lead guide are his protocols.

Post-expedition, Adam runs the incident and near-miss reporting loop into quarterly SOP updates. The reason Untamed Tribe can promise risk transparency on every expedition page is that someone is paid to enforce it.

LEAD-04 · Field
Bryce
Field Operations & Training Support
DOMAINS // Fieldcraft · Firearms safety
FOCUS // ETP weekend instruction
ROLE // Wilderness skills curriculum
OWNS // Gear systems & field SOPs

Bryce is the field instruction backbone of the ETP weekend and the EPC progression. Wilderness skills, gear systems, load management, navigation under fatigue, firearms safety where applicable — the practical competencies that separate someone who's "into the outdoors" from someone who's actually operational get drilled by Bryce.

His instructional style mirrors the Untamed Tribe doctrine: demanding without being theatrical. No shouting, no manufactured suffering, no tactical-tourism posturing. The standard is clear, the feedback is direct, and the bar is the bar — whether you're a Special Operations alumnus or a software engineer rucking your first 20 pounds.

Bryce also maintains the field gear inventory, the participant gear lists, and the pre-expedition gear-check protocols. If you show up to your ETP weekend with the wrong pack frame, you'll know about it before sunset on day one — and you'll know exactly how to fix it.

03 // Operational Standards

The credentials behind the people.

We don't lead with logos and patches. But you're trusting our team with your safety in real environments, so here's the standard every lead operator meets before they're authorized to run a Untamed Tribe cohort.

STANDARD 01

Wilderness medical, minimum WFR.

Wilderness First Responder is the floor. Lead guides on extended international expeditions hold WEMT or higher. Recertification tracked annually.

STANDARD 02

Domain-specific certification.

AMGA pathway for technical mountain days. NAUI / TDI / PADI Divemaster minimum for dive operations. ACA Level 4+ for paddlesports. No exceptions for convenience.

STANDARD 03

Documented expedition resume.

Lead-guide authorization requires verified field hours in the specific environment they'll be leading — not adjacent terrain, not a different ocean, not a similar mountain range.

STANDARD 04

Cultural fit before competence.

Technical skill gets a guide through the door. Mentorship temperament, calm under pressure, and alignment with capability-over-comfort doctrine decide whether they ever lead a cohort.

STANDARD 05

Internal AAR participation.

Every guide owes a structured After Action Review within 7 days post-expedition. Near-misses feed into the quarterly SOP review. Continuous improvement is not optional.

STANDARD 06

Background & reference vetted.

Operational references from prior expedition organizations or military / first-responder commands. We call. We verify. Then we run a paid trial weekend before authorizing a lead role.

04 // Guide Development Track

The team grows from the inside.

The top 5–10% of our alumni get an invitation to the Guide Development pathway. Not as a sales mechanic — as a succession plan.

The progression — ETP → EPC → Expedition → Advanced → Guide Development — exists because the people who eventually carry Untamed Tribe culture forward should be the people who lived it from the participant side first. They understand the AAR rhythm, the gear standards, the mentorship doctrine, and the operational discipline because they were developed inside it.

By Year 3, we expect 8–20 aligned operators on the roster. The maj
